The Adventures of Fort Whyte!

This week we went to Fort Whyte! We got to go critter dipping - we went onto the dock of a swamp and used nets to catch little creatures like leeches, shrimp, tadpoles, side swimmers, and so much more! We also went on a long walk and saw a tipi and the treehouse! The walk was fun! When we were on our way to the treehouse, Ms. Moffatt saw a snake and she freaked out and screamed! When we went up into the treehouse and looked out, we saw bones! We also learned new words like marsh! Overall, it was the best field trip ever!

On Wednesday, we painted Sunsets and Sailboats! We used water colour paints and water colour paper! We used permanent marker to outline them!

Today and yesterday we have been doing some little math tests for the report cards because it's almost the end of the year! Only 5 more weeks left of school! We are sad but also excited to be in grade 2 and 3!

It was a fantastic week!

The Fruit Salad Week

Today we made a fruit salad! We are talking about ways to be healthy and how to eat right! We learned somethings you don't think are that healthy, actually are! And we also learned that eating healthy can be delicious! We should have 2-3 servings of fruit EVERYDAY!

In math, we learned a new math game that worked on subtracting nine! Our real is.... TAKE AWAY 10 AND GIVE ONE BACK! Sooooo...
47 - 9 = 38 (because we take away 10 (37) and then give one back (38)!

We had fun lunch and it was very awesome! It was Boston Pizza! Yum yum!

We are learning about Lunenburg and this week we learned about the Bluenose!!
Did you know....
- The bluenose was the fastest sailboat during the races!
- It was built and launched in 1921!
- They built a Bluenose 2 exactly the same and then they sold it to Nova Scotia for $1.00!!!!!!
- The original Bluenose crashed into the coral reef and sank to the bottom of the ocean!
- People are still trying to find pieces of it!
- It was sold out of Canada in the 1940's.
- It's called the Bluenose because whenever people put their mittens to their noses when building, it used to turn blue so they called it the BLUENOSE!

Have an awesome, warm and sunny weekend!
Also - Sunday is Maddy's birthday!! Happy 7th Birthday Maddy!

Crunch Crunch!

Ha ha ha! We had a storyteller come to our school named Jamie! He told us stories and helped us act out fun things! He was really funny. We acted out a story about a princess and a hippo!

Sssssscribble!! We also started some new math centres all about measurement! We used different types of rulers to measure inches and centimeters. One of the stations we had to take a ruler and measure 'things' around the room - we had to find stuff that was 1 inch, 2 inches, 3 inches... all the way up to 12 inches!

Yuuuuum!!!  We earned our last pizza slice so today we are having a pizza party!! We ordered 2 cheese pizzas and 1 pepperoni pizzas and we get fun drinks! We are very excited for lunch but we still have to wait 20 minutes!!

They lived happily ever after!! Yesterday some of our classmates (Sophia, Brooke, Katey, Hayley and Maddy) performed a readers theatre play to us called The Three Little Elephants and the Big Bad Mouse (based on the three little pigs). It was funny and cool and the girls did awesome! Now we have another group of kids (Madden, Mahina, Vance, Ben and Dreden) who are rehearsing for next weeks performance!

We had so much fun this week! We are all excited for pizza... now it's only 15 minutes until it gets here!

Have a GREAT, AWESOME, AMAZING, SUPER, FUN long weekend!
Love always,
